FISHING DIVISIONS
A $3000 cash award and trophy for first place, $1500
and trophy for second place and $1000 for third place will be given out to winners
of the following divisions:
Mako - 6 foot total length minimum
Open* - 6 foot total length
minimum
Release** - est. 50 lb. minimum
Bluefish - legal minimum
* Open division includes all sharks
other than tigers, makos, sandbars, duskies, great whites, sandtigers,
and all sharks listed on the NMFS Prohibited Species List.
** No minimum size to receive release points on tigers, makos, , threshers,
great whites and sandtigers.
ADDED ENTRY LEVELS
Registered teams who feel particularly lucky
may also choose to enter one or more of the following added entry level
divisions:
Level A: $1,000 Level D: $100
Level B: $500
Level E: $50
Level C: $250
Each level will be awarded independently of each other. Ninety percent
of the fees collected for each level will be awarded to added entry
participants as follows:
50% to Mako Division - divided as follows:
50% heaviest, 30% second heaviest and
20% third heaviest
50% to Open Division - divided as follows:
50% heaviest, 30% second heaviest and
20% third heaviest
Bluefish will not share in the above-mentioned
added entry level payouts. Instead there will be a separate calcutta
for bluefish with the same A-E entry levels with 90% of the fees awarded:
50% heaviest, 30% second heaviest and 20% third heaviest.
No sharks or bluefish will qualify for the
added entry levels that do not meet the minimum tournament size limits.
Registration for the added entry levels must occur before the close of
the captains meeting on Wednesday evening.
DAILY CALCUTTA
There is a $100 entry fee for each of the
three categories and up to two days of fishing. The Daily Calcutta
includes:
Heaviest Daily Mako, Heaviest Daily
Bluefish, and Most Daily release Points.
Each daily payout will be independent of
each other and 90% of the fees collected for each category will be
awarded as follows: 33.3% heaviest first day, 33.3% heaviest second day
and 33.3% heaviest third day.
TUNA CALCUTTA
A cash prize will be paid to the
participating team that catches the largest tuna during any of their
fishing days. There is a $100 entry fee for the tuna calcutta and
90% of the fees collected for each category will be awarded.
YOUTH DIVISION
First and second place awards will be
presented to children 12 and under who register the heaviest qualifying
sharks or the most sharks released. There is no cost to
participate in this division. However, the tournament committee must be
notified of the angler's age during the weigh-in for recordkeeping
purposes.
