The
beautiful waters of Ocean City's back bay and inlet have long
attracted anglers looking to enjoy a wealth of gamefish opportunities
in a scenic and relaxing environment. Floating through the bay
is as much a nature cruise as it is a fishing trip as anglers
view countless varieties of shore birds, waterfowl, marine life,
and Assateague Island's famous wild ponies.
Among
the natural marshes, tidal pools, channels, and sand bars, fishermen
might encounter striped bass, bluefish, seabass, croaker, spot,
small sharks, gray and speckled trout, tautog, and the area's
most popular inshore quarry - the summer flounder (fluke). For
a change of pace, some folks opt to spend a part of their day
digging for clams, or tending handlines in quest of Maryland's
tasty blue crabs.
